Rixey Carlton “Rex” Chadwell, age 91, of Wilderville, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at his home.
A funeral service will be at 12 noon, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Interment with full military honors will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Rex was born October 19, 1919 in The Plains, Virginia one of ten children of Elias Blackwell Chadwell & Nellie (Sinclair) Chadwell. On August 31, 1941 he was drafted into the United States Army and served 20 years in the cavalry and transportation corps. He was stationed in England, Wales, Germany, Belgium, Korea, Japan and Newfoundland. He was assigned to ten duty stations stateside. In 1948 in Antioch, California, he married Thelma Olson who survives. In 1961 the couple moved from Fort Meade, Maryland to Wilderville, Oregon. After retiring from the Army he worked 20 years for the Josephine County School District.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Chadwell of Wilderville, Oregon; three daughters, Sherry Bowlin of Wilderville, Oregon, Candace Sinclair of Ashland, Oregon, Lisa Bloemendaal of Grants Pass, Oregon; a son, Mark Chadwell of Wilderville, Oregon; a brother and two sisters all of New York.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
