Richard Lee Fahey, age 65, of Glendale, died Friday, May 10, 2013 while bear hunting in Montana.
A viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2013 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Russ Gibson officiating.

Richard was born June 16, 1947 in Medford, Oregon to Harry & Birdena (Morrison) Cerny and moved to Grants Pass shortly thereafter. Following the death of his father, his mother married Harold Fahey and Richard was adopted by him as a young boy. 1965 he graduated from Grants Pass High School where he was a state champion wrestler. He then attended Southern Oregon College before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on July 26, 1966. While serving in Vietnam he received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged after 22 years of service. On June 7, 1968 in Grants Pass he married Terri Alderson. Richard was co-owner of Southern Oregon Sanitation, his family’s business where he started working when he was 12 years old. He was crew chief over the entire transportation operations until his retirement in 2003. In 2005 he moved to Glendale where he began the Saving Grace Ranch, a horse rescue ranch.
Richard was a member of the Oregon National Guard Hall of Honor; Rogue Gateway Rotary Club; Toastmasters; Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc where he was past-president; Oregon Hunters Association; Gospel Rescue Mission foundation where he was a board member and mentor; and was a past Grants Pass city councilman. Together with his wife, Terri, they started Teen Talk Milkshake Run and Fellowship. In 2008 he started and was director of Camp Gran, for kids in transition.
He attended River Valley Community Church where he was a Stephen’s Minister; marriage and teen mentor; taught Love and Respect classes; and served on many mission trips including Guatemala, Honduras, Congo, and Peru.
An avid outdoorsman, his hobbies included horses, his ranch, hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing cribbage. He was a master hunter and taught hunter education courses.
In addition to his wife, Terri Fahey of Glendale, Oregon; he is survived by four children, Mindi Davis and husband Tom of San Diego, California, Shonna Bouteller and husband Brian, Tami Fahey, and Shane Fahey and wife Judi all of Grants Pass; two sisters, Nanci Watkins and husband Ray of Eagle Point, Oregon and Gail Johnston and husband Alvin of Palmer, Alaska; three brothers, Patrick Fahey and wife Sue of Grants Pass, Oregon, Jack Butler and wife Jean of Christmas Valley, Oregon, and Dan Alderson and wife Margie of Grants Pass, Oregon; and 11 grandchildren, Lindsey, Tristan, Joshua, Justin, Bryce, Abbi, Gavin, Drew, Conner, Jordyn, and Sawyer.
