Former Grants Pass resident, Richard Laurel Hoover was born in Auburn, CA on February 26, 1951 and passed away in Trail, Oregon with his girlfriend Mary Waldo by his side on January 7, 2014.
Survived by his only son, Anthony Ray Hoover of Rancho Cordova, CA; grandchildren Connor, Cassandra, Ashleigh, Cody and Nathaniel Hoover.
Richard served in the US Army from October, 1968, through January, 1972, where he was in the 2nd and 320th, Battery B, Field Artillery, with the101st Airborne Division. During his service in the Army he spent time in the Vietnam War from June, 1971 through January, 1972. After the Army, Richard was employed with various city and county departments as a plumber. He eventually retired and moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. Richard will be missed by many, including his step sons and remaining siblings. He loved his family, fishing, camping, football (The Saints and Oregon Ducks) and his dog Maggie. He will be missed by many relatives including friends.
A private memorial will be held for family and friends in Rancho Cordova, CA in the future.
