Rev. James M. Scott formerly of Rogue River and Murphy, Oregon passed away quietly at his home October 7th in Hansville, Washington. He was 89 years old.
He was born Oct. 31st, 1921 in Glenwood, Iowa. After graduating from Glenwood High he went to work as a logger in Cottage Grove, Oregon until he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war he boxed professionally and played semi-pro baseball and football for a living. During his life he was a Pastor and a Sheriff. Later he retired as an Inspector from Day & Night Manufacturing in Southern California. He then moved to Rogue River, Oregon with beloved late wife of 46 years, Evelyn, where he tended to a small cattle ranch.
He loved playing and watching sports, reading the Bible, fishing and spending time with his family. The last months of his life he spent surrounded by family and friends, spending time with Grandsons and Grandchildren, watching baseball and attending Hansville Community Church, while being tenderly cared for by his loving Daughter-in-law, Judy Scott.
He is survived by three sons Danny Scott of Medford, Oregon, David Scott of Seattle, Washington and Randall Scott of Hansville, Washington; his loving sister Letta Hammers of Grants Pass, Oregon and many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Private interment will be at Woodville Cemetery.
