Reatha Fern Martin

Reatha Martin peacefully passed away at her daughter's home in Grants Pass, she left us to be with her Heavenly Father on February 9, 2025 at the age of 101.

Reatha Fern Babb was born on March 6, 1923, the oldest of twin daughters, in Long Beach, CA, to Clarence and Erma Babb. She attended schools in the Long Beach area.In 1945 she moved with her family to Rogue River, Oregon.

Reatha was married to Edward F. Martin on June 1, 1947 in Rogue River at the Hope Presbyterian Church. They were married for 47 years. Their early years of marriage were spent living in Cave Junction, in 1951 they moved to Rogue River where she lived and worked with Ed on the family dairy farm.

In 1947 she became a member of the Hope Presbyterian Church. She was involved with Women's Assoc. and Hobby Club for many years. She volunteered as a home room mother at Rogue River Elementary School, and was a co-leader of the Rogue River 4-H Dairy Club in the 1960's.

Reatha loved reading her Bible and was a devout believer in Jesus Christ, attending church at Hope Presbyterian Church and later at Table Rock Fellowship. She loved spending time with her family, reading her cowboy paperbacks, gardening and crocheting afghans that she gave away to family, friends and donated to ill or housebound residents in Rogue River.

She is survived by daughters, Clare Frazeur (Winfield), Melinda Martin, Patricia Hice (Gilbert). Grandchildren Christian Jones (Laura), Anthony Jones (DeeDee), Jennifer Atkins (Scott), Elijah Hice, Peter Hice. Great Grandchildren Ryan Jones, Emma Jones, Dylan Jones, Edward Atkins, Sam Atkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, sister Pauline Davidson, twin sister Leatha Preston, son-in-law Ronnie Jones, her parents Clarence and Erma Baab.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00p.m., February 22, 2025 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
