Ralph Elmer Schultz

Ralph Elmer Schultz, age 93, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home.
Ralph was born April 20, 1928 in Paynesville, Minnesota to Elmer and Rebecca (Gates) Schultz. He was raised in Paynesville and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1946. He attended Westmar College for two years. Ralph served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 1951 – 1953. He then moved to Huron, South Dakota and attended Huron College. On July 1, 1955 in Huron, he married Catherine Welchert. Ralph took a job with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation the following year and they moved to Weaverville, California until 1963. In 1963 he moved his family to Carmichael, California. Ralph retired from the Bureau in 1983. In February 1988, he and Catherine moved to Grants Pass, Oregon.
Ralph was a member of Grace Bible Church and volunteered with the Serenaders for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 28, and the V.F.W. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, Sunday drives and gambling.
He is survived by three daughters, Susan Schultz of Sacramento, California, Barbara Loera of Shingle Springs, California and Janet Bernero of Grants Pass, Oregon; son, Michael Schultz of Sacramento, California; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine in 2012; and daughter, Roxanne Hairford in 1994.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., February 12, 2022 at Grace Bible Church with Pastor Jon Marshall officiating. Private interment was held at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
