Ragna Abbott

Ragna Abbott, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Jerome Prairie Bible Church with Pastor James Downing officiating. Private interment was held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Ragna was born June 11, 1923 in Lyman, Washington to Ed & Helma Thanem the first of five beautiful daughters of Norwegian immigrants. She attended Simpson Bible College in Seattle, Washington worked at Boeing as an airplane manufacturer during World War II. After the war, the family moved to Escondido, California where she met Raymond Abbott. They were married in 1948 at Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido where she served as the church organist. Ragna & Raymond resided in Azusa, California with their two children until 1964 when they moved to Grants Pass. She was the business administrator for her husband’s business, Abbott Pest Control until retiring in 1980.

Ragna attended Jerome Prairie Bible Church and served as church pianist many years ago. She volunteered with Child Evangelism Fellowship and hosted traveling missionaries in her home for many years.

Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, canning, and playing the piano and organ.

In addition to her husband, Raymond Abbott; she is survived by a son, William Abbott and a daughter, Caroline Kelly all of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters, Ovedia Hall of Lakeport, California and Bernice Van Cleave of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
