R. George Fincher, age 60, of Cave Junction, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at a friend’s home.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.
George was born October 4, 1952 in Grants Pass to Ralph & Jewel Fincher. He graduated from Illinois Valley High School, Class of 1970 where he enjoyed painting and drawing and participated in track & field, football, and wrestling. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he was active in the color guard; painted airplanes doing corrosion control and finish work; and guarded lunar capsules at the military base that had been retrieved from the ocean. After his honorable discharge in 1977, he moved to Texas in 1980 where he worked as a lead computer operator in the energy distribution industry. He moved from Houston, Texas to Cave Junction six years ago.
George dedicated his life to his family and his work. He enjoyed going to movies, cooking, and all kinds of family activities.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher R.T. Fincher of Houston, Texas and Lonny Fincher of Alaska; a daughter, Chasity Fincher of Oregon City, Oregon; a sister, Nina Mickey of Cave Junction, Oregon; two brothers, Clayton Fincher of Cave Junction, Oregon and Neal Fincher of Medford, Oregon; and several grandchildren.
