Phyllis Jean (Jacobs) Muswieck, age 87, of Cave Junction, died Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home.
Phyllis was born December 13, 1927 in Pierre, South Dakota to parents, Pearl & Harry Jacobs. As a small child she was given to and raised by her Aunt Fern Bell Jacobs who lived in Des Moines, Iowa. Phyllis graduated from North High School in 1946. In 1947 Fern, her husband Frank and Phyllis moved to Inglewood, California, (L.A. County). In the later part of 1947, Phyllis obtained a job with Pacific Telephone Company, as a teletype operator, secretary and repair clerk. During a Christmas party in 1947, she met her husband, Robert J. Muswieck. They were married the following year on May 23, 1948. During their first three years of marriage they lived in southwest Los Angeles. They then bought property in Van Nuys, California and had a home built in 1951. They had four children, Robert Michael 1949, Kristine Lee 1952, David Richard 1953, John Edward 1960. In 1986 they moved from Van Nuys, California to Cave Junction. As of 2014 she had four children, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She served as President of the Women’s League at the I.V. Golf course.
While raising their children in Van Nuys, she was active in P.T.A., Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and as a remedial reading teacher for the Los Angeles school district.
Her hobbies included oil painting, golfing and corresponding via letter and phone calls with friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday April 10, 2015 at Fountain of Life Assembly of God, 451 S Junction Avenue, Cave Junction, Oregon. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
