Phillip Wayne Smith

Phillip Wayne Smith, age 43, of Grants Pass, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at his home surrounded by family after a valiant battle with leukemia.

A celebration of life will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Wolf Creek Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Phillip was born June 12, 1968 in Springfield, Oregon to Patsy & Jay Smith. He lived in Grants Pass all his life and attended North Valley High School. He worked as a logger and pole climber.

Phillip was very interested in Native American culture.

Survivors include two children, Bryce Smoker of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jordan Bashaw of LaPine, Oregon; his mother, Patsy Smith of Glendale, Oregon; his father, Jay Smith of Michigan; seven brothers, James Smith of Grants Pass, Oregon, Rick Smith of Glendale, Oregon, Robert Young, Jeff Young, Josh Smith, and Robert Blake Young all of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jesse Smith of Bend, Oregon; four sisters, Shari Smith and Jamie Ortiz both of Grants Pass, Oregon, Breanna Smith of Glendale, Oregon and Cristi Puckett of Grants Pass, Oregon; several nieces and nephews; and many Native American brothers.

Phillip was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Rae Smith; a nephew, Andrew Jay Smith; and his grandmother, Ruth Bryson.
