Phillip R. Johnson passed away April 7, 2011 in Merlin, Oregon. He moved to Oregon in 2001 from Pacific Grove, California. Phillip was born in South Dakota on December 30, 1916 to Julius and Hulda Johnson. He married Olga M. Coxon September 26, 1939 in Los Angeles, California. He was a World War II Veteran and worked for the California youth authority until he retired in 1975. He and his wife moved to Porterville, California in 1976, where he went to work for Hiller Aviation, until 1982.
He loved fishing, restoring old cars, tinkering in his shop, and rebuilding things. He is survived by one daughter Sydrian Joyce Weatherman, of Bakersfield, California, three grandchildren, Denise Locke of Merlin, Or., Jay Weatherman of Slidell, La., & Phillip Trupe of Bakersfield, Ca., eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Preceding him in death were his wife, Olga M. Johnson, his daughter Phyllis M. Trupe, and one granddaughter, Sydrian D. Benson.
Services will be held in Bakersfield, California May 6, 2011 1:00 pm at Daybreak Baptist Church on Taft Hwy.
