Philip Eugene Peeters of Rogue River, Oregon passed away at the age of 91 on January 10th, 2014 at his home surrounded by family and his loyal dog Smokie.
Phil was born in Burlington, Wisconsin on July 3rd, 1922. He was the youngest son of Peter and Edna (Luhn) Peeters. He worked at Lockheed Martin Aviation as a Transportation Specialist. Later he worked for NASA in Cape Canaveral, Florida. He was privileged to become friends with many of the astronauts.
Phil retired to Rogue River with his wife Dorothy. While living in Rogue River he enjoyed fishing and camping. Phil also served on the City Council and enjoyed two terms as Mayor. During his tenure as Mayor he oversaw the construction and opening of the bridge spanning the Rogue River.
Phil made friends easily and has many close friends worldwide. He was an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and his two brothers, Robert and Bernard.
Survivors include Carol Vowles, stepdaughter; Carole Sterner, niece; David Peeters, nephew; Barbara Williamson, niece; Mark Peeters, nephew and his loyal Keeshond Dog Smokie.
A celebration of his life will be held on February 15, 2014 at 1 PM at Hope Presbyterian Church, 515 Broadway, Rogue River, Oregon. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR.
