Pearl Mae Gilmore

Pearl Mae Gilmore, age 89, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2009 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Pearl Mae Rowe May 4, 1920 in Layton, North Dakota to Warren & Christina Rowe. With her parents, brothers Mike & Mel and sisters, Mabel & Lydia, the family later moved to California. On February 3, 1940 Pearl married James Allen Gilmore in Yuma, Arizona. After James served with the United States Army in Europe during World War II, they purchased their first home in Ontario, California where they raised their four children, Jim, Don, Rick & Patty. James and Pearl worked for General Electric Iron Company from 1946 until their retirement in 1982. In 1990 James and Pearl moved to Raytown, Missouri and then to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1999.

James & Pearl were lifelong members of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. Pearl loved children and enjoyed serving her church as a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years.

She also enjoyed making crafts, cooking for her family, and helping others.

Pearl is survived by her children, Don Gilmore and wife Linda of Springfield, Missouri, Rick Gilmore and wife Deborah of Grants Pass, and Patty Hensel and husband Bob of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death in death by her husband, James Gilmore in 2003; her son, Jim Gilmore in 2007; and a grandson, Tom Gilmore.
