Paul Grant Dean, age 65, of Selma, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his home of cancer.
Private services have been held. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born August 9, 1948 in Everett, Washington to Everett & Carmen Dean. In 1962 he moved with his family to the Monterey Peninsula, California. Paul joined the United States Navy in 1967 and served on the U.S.S. Coral Sea CVA-43 until his honorable discharge in 1969. For over 35 years, Paul was a craftsman house painter. He was first married to Lydia Maldonado from which they had a son, Isaac and a daughter, Sarah. In September 1981 he married Gloria Harvey. In 2011 they moved from Prunedale (Monterey County) to Selma, Oregon.
Paul was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt in the Santa Lucias above Big Sur. Paul loved music and would get together with family and friends to play his guitar or blow a few rifts on his harmonicas. He also enjoyed fishing and barbeques.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Gloria L. Dean of Selma, Oregon; a son, Isaac P. Dean and a daughter Sarah I. Dean both of Salinas, California; a granddaughter, Alexus A. Obiacoro of Salinas, California; three sisters, Charmaine Dean, Cathy Hamilton and Gina Rider and three brothers, James Hendricks, Charles Dean and Gary Dean.
Preceding him in death were both parents and his younger brother, Sam Dean.
