Patty Murray

Patty Murray, age 74, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Patty Murray was born in Grants Pass on December 8, 1937 to Milo and Pauline (Meade) Shier. Patty was the great-granddaughter of James and Margaret Savage – one of the first families to settle in Southern Oregon on November 6, 1853. Patty graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1956. She was an avid seamstress, gardener, and doll collector. From 1971 to 1991 she managed the House of Fabrics.

She is survived by her three children Melanie Leonard of Grants Pass, Oregon, Michael T. Murray, N.D. of Paradise Valley, Arizona, and Dee Dee Reich of Grants Pass, Oregon; and six grandchildren Missy Leonard, Kaitlyn Lopez, Isabella Lopez, Lexi Murray, Zachary Murray, and Addison Murray.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Murray, Jr. and her brothers Bob, Neil, and Walt Shier.

Any donations in her honor can be made to the Josephine County Historical Society, 512 SW 5th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526, an organization co-founded by her mother in 1960.
