Patricia Ruth Calvert

Patricia Ruth Calvert “Mimi”, age 82, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Applegate House of Grants Pass.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, November 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ on Savage Street. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Patty was born Patricia Ruth McMasters on August 3, 1930 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Fred and Lois McMasters. Patty grew up in many different states due to her Fathers occupation as a Lineman.

Her family located to Newport Beach, California in 1948. Patty was attending Orange Coast College majoring in Office Administration and Music. Patty was working at the Lido Theatre in Balboa where she met her husband George Calvert and was married on July 23, 1950, at the Church of Christ in Costa Mesa, California.

The couple moved to Grants Pass in 1956 from Huntington Beach, California. Patty devoted her time raising their three sons. Patty’s strength with the Lord flowed through the love and devotion she gave her family. Patty was an active member of the Church of Christ of Grants Pass for over 50 years and she participated in many of the Church activities. Patty served as PTA President, Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, chaperone for school functions, and bus driver for school sports with awesome cheering support during games. Patty volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, the Josephines at the Josephine General Hospital, the Home Extension Units, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Posse Auxiliary, and the Shan Creek Community Services.

Patty loved planting flowers, feeding the birds and animals around her home, bowling, cooking for family and friends, reading the Bible, holidays, walks to the pond, giving gifts and hugs, but most of all spending time with family.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, survivors include 2 brothers, Gene and James, 3 children, Daniel, Rick and David, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
