Patricia Diane Troop, age 66, passed away at her home in Azalea, Oregon on Saturday, April 27, 2013 after a long and fierce battle with cancer.
She was born January 24, 1947 in Bel Air, Maryland to Clara & Jesse Engle. She graduated from Salinas High School in 1965 and on May 6, 1967 she married William Howard Troop.
Pat lived in many different places – including Baumholder, Germany – before settling on the West Coast. She was a smart, savvy, and caring business person embarking on several ventures with her husband including owning/operating Barrett Cove Marine at Lake McClure, California; a Diet Center in Merced, California; and most recently, Wolf Creek General Store in Wolf Creek, Oregon.
Pat had a huge place in her heart for children and served as a board member of Small Miracles Foundation, a group dedicated to helping families cope with the financial, emotional, and physical strain of having a child with cancer.
In addition to her giving and caring spirit, Pat will be especially remembered for her remarkable fried chicken (the recipe lives on!) and how well she packed an ice chest for any and every Mustang and car show event.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; children, Shannon Troop and Suzanne Armstrong; grandchildren, Tyler Armstrong and Nicholas Armstrong; siblings, Priscilla Lembach, Phil Engle, Jeff Engle, and Pam Engle; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Troop Residence, 3367 Upper Cow Creek Road, Azalea, Oregon 97410.
Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to Small Miracles Foundation, 3032 Azalea Glen Road, Glendale, Oregon 97442 or online at www.smallmiraclesfoundation.org.
A special thank you to Jackie, Tanya, and Pat of Lovejoy Hospice for their help and support.
