Oscar J. DaMota, age 57, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home.
A funeral service will be at 12 Noon, Friday, February 8, 2013 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Reverend Randel Livingood officiating. Interment will follow at Granite Hill Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Oscar was born September 29, 1955 in San Francisco, California to Oscar and Lola DaMota. He grew up in Daly City, California and at age 18 he shipped out as a Merchant Seaman where he served for 10 years. He then followed in his father’s footsteps as a pressman at Stecker Stuart M Smith Printing in San Francisco. In 1984 he moved from San Francisco to Grants Pass and worked for CDS Publication in Medford as a Pressman and retired seven years ago.
Oscar was a Harley enthusiast. His hobbies also included old cars. He lived his life for his children, grandchildren and family. “Family comes first” was his saying.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lisa DaMota and Kelly DaMota, both of Grants Pass; two sisters, Anne DaMota of Rogue River and Lisa DaMota of Grants Pass; three brothers, Billy DaMota of Los Angeles, California, Shawn DaMota of Fairbanks, Alaska and Kelly DaMota of Grants Pass and three grandchildren.
