Orvin “Ed” Edson Wagner
Orvin “Ed” Edson Wagner passed into his rest September 2, 2017, at Royale Garden Nursing Home in Grants Pass, OR. He was born January 23, 1930, in Los Angeles, CA, to Edward Benjamin and Mary Esther (May) Wagner.
Ed was married to Doris Joan Byram August 23, 1953, in Portland, OR. Their children are Dianne Wagner of White City, OR, Darrell (Stephanie) Wagner of Isanti, MN, Susan (James) Dietel of Rockland,WI, and Sharon Stiverson of McMinnville, OR. Ed and Doris were divorced in 1976.
He served in the US Army in Korea from 1955-1957 and was honorably discharged.
On August 12, 1977, he married Claudia Eells in Carson City, NV. Their children are Raymond (Jennifer) Wagner of Grants Pass, OR, Michael Wagner of Eagle Point, OR, and Kimberly (Randall) Garver of Tyler, TX.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1968 with a Doctorate in Physics where he obtained a patent for his work on semiconductor materials and did post doctorate work at Oakridge National Laboratory. He taught Physics at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo for 5 years and taught science and electronics at Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, OR. Ed conducted studies in wave behavior in plants at Wagner Research Lab. He published 2 books and numerous papers in scientific magazines and holds a patent on his latest work.
Orvin is also survived by his brother Delmer (Evelyn) Wagner of Rogue River, OR, his sister Elaine Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 expected and 1 great, great grandchild.
There will be a viewing at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Graveside service will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
