Odetta Levine, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
Odetta was born in Durant, Oklahoma in 1923 to Ola Mae and Jefferson Levi Smith. She was raised and went to school in Moran, Texas one of 7 children. She moved to California and was working in a caf when she met a handsome sailor. He decided when he saw her; he was going to marry that beautiful red head. Odetta married Joseph Levine in 1944. They moved to Washington State for awhile, and then returned to San Diego. They raised their family and camped and fished and traveled. They lived there until her husband retired from the sheriff’s department. They bought property in Wimer, Oregon and built a house. She worked side by side with her husband building the house and mini farm. She loved farming and gardening. She was an excellent cook. She loved to play Bingo and games with her family. She was a heck of a fisherman and an excellent seamstress. She loved her family and friends. She will be missed by all so very much. She is survived by her 101 year old sister in Texas, Mae Sanders, two daughters, Aleda Brandt (Dennis), & Patty Harmon, four grandkids, James, Joseph, Krista, Desta; and seven great grandkids, Cody, Casey, Lindsey, Alec, Anthony (AJ), Max and Lilly
A viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
