Nelda Glasheen, age 66, of Rogue River, died Thursday, October 10, 2013.
A funeral service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 230 Buysman Way, Grants Pass on Saturday, November 9th at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Steven Sparley officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull and Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Nelda was born November 14th, 1946, to Lloyd and Margaret Miller in Medford, Oregon. After graduating from Phoenix High School, she attended Oregon State University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1968. Nelda ventured to Alaska, teaching in Anchorage until 1973 and then homesteaded in a remote area outside of Fairbanks. In 1976, she returned to Oregon, living in Grants Pass. She continued her education at Southern Oregon University, graduating with a Master’s of Education in 1981. Nelda resumed her Science teaching career, serving at McLoughlin Middle School, Rogue Community College and other area schools, until 2011.
Nelda was a lifelong Lutheran and a founding member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Grants Pass, where she served as organist and a member of the choir.
She is survived by her son, Larry Glasheen (Michelle), of Portland, Oregon, three sisters, Inga Baitis of Missoula, Montana, Dr. Christine Miller of Portola Valley, California and Yvonne Miller Stokely of Santa Barbara, California, four grandchildren Miranda, Trevor, Lilly and Elana Glasheen.
