On Monday, September 30, 2019, Milly May Harmon, passed away peacefully with family by her side. She was 88 years old. Milly was born February 4, 1931 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Truman and Kathryn (Vansandt) Donaldson and was the fifth of their six children. She married John Franklin Harmon on March 11, 1950 and together they raised one son, Dennis, and three daughters, Donna, Debbie, and Diane.
Milly was passionate about her faith, her family, her garden, and quilting. She was a lifelong seamstress and began sewing quilts for family milestones (births, marriages, and graduations) during the last 30 years. She also made comfort quilts for Project Linus. She was a proud homemaker and unapologetic about her role as a wife and mother which she viewed as the most important life occupation in the world. Milly’s beautiful yard, her smile, and her kindness will be greatly missed.
Milly was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Kathryn, her husband, John, and her brothers, VanD and Trulan. She is survived by her four children, Dennis Harmon, Donna Sackville, Debbie Klumph, and Diane Mires, her sisters Alma Doris and Evelyn, and one brother David. She also leaves behind 13 beloved grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:30 am at Murphy Chapel in Murphy, Oregon. Please bring your favorite photograph of Milly to share.
