Mildred “Millie” O’Shaughnessy, age 103, of Grants Pass, died Friday, January 7, 2011 at Spring Pointe.
No public services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Millie was born February 28, 1907 in Sedalia, Missouri to Jack & Lucinda (Hockaday) Lewis. In 1916 she moved with her family to Colorado. On February 1, 1925 in Colorado she married John O’Shaughnessy and they moved to California in 1926. Together they had four children and lived in four different states. In 1984 she moved from Cottonwood, Arizona to Rogue River to be close to family and later moved to Grants Pass.
Millie loved gardening, embroidery work, and fishing. She and her husband spent many summers in Sandpoint, Idaho fishing on Lake Coeur d’Alene and spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona.
For many years she attended Hope Presbyterian Church in Rogue River and served on several committees.
Survivors include two children, John L. O’Shaughnessy of Santa Barbara, California and L. Jean Kinney of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Linda Chapman of Colorado; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John O’Shaughnessy; two sons, Lee O’Shaughnessy and Don O’Shaughnessy; a granddaughter, Sue Atkins; four sisters, Gladys, Margaret, Mary, and Dolores; and two brothers, Elwood and Loren.
Millie was loved by all!
