Mildred E. Pennington-Cook, age 92, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Royal Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, 1969 Williams Highway, Grants Pass. Private interment was held at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, Arizona. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Mildred (Nee Garner) was born December 12, 1917 to Agnes Estella Moore and Ira Raymond Garner in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1933 she married her high school sweetheart, Guy Pennington and in 1948 they moved to Grants Pass where they raised their two children. Guy passed away in 1971 and Mildred remained in Grants Pass. In 1980 she met and married LaGrand Provost Cook. Together they served a church mission in Scotland. LaGrand passed away in 1998.
Mildred was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved being in the service of the Lord. Her other joys in life included handiwork such as embroidery, sewing, and knitting. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, baking, canning, and doll collecting.
She will be missed by all who survive her which include her daughter, Dorene Wilson of Grants Pass; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Pat Pennington, and a great posterity of 11 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
