Midge L. Lords-Childers

May 6, 1916 — January 2, 2012

Midge L. Lords-Childers, age 95, of Grants Pass, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at an adult foster home.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2012 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mark Skudstad officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Midge was born May 6, 1916 in Sacramento, California to James & Louisa (King) Ketterman. In 1935 in Reno, Nevada she married Rolland Coffield and in 1945 they moved to Grants Pass with their two young children and built their home in the country from the ground up. After Rollie died, she worked to earn her real estate and broker licenses. In 1965 in Grants Pass Midge married Oral “Doc” Lords and together they discovered Quartzsite, Arizona where they built an RV Park for sno-birds called “Lords Little Acher.” After 28 years of marriage, she was again widowed, but managed to keep the park going with the help of the sno-birds who loved to gather there. In 2006 in Quartzsite on her 90th birthday Midge married her long time companion, Arthur “Pat” Childers and was widowed the following year. In 2010 she returned to Grants Pass to be closer to family.

Midge was a member of the Mineral Club, took college classes in painting, and became a master gardener. While living in Grants Pass she was active in PTA and 4-H, kept a large garden and learned to hunt.

Survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Hause of Federal Way, Washington; two stepdaughters, Marlys Wilcock and Donna McGee; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husbands, Midge was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Coffield; and a stepson, Joe Lords.
