Michael Wayne Murphy, age 63, of Grants Pass, died December 30, 2015 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Michael was born October 3, 1952 in Oceanside, California to Arnold & Frances Murphy. In 1970 he graduated from Rio Mesa High School. In 1973, in Grants Pass, he married Willa Stoltz. After living in California for several years, the couple moved to Grants Pass from Camarillo in 1984. Starting at age 15, Michael worked in his families printing shop and continued to work in printing for many years. Michael attended Rogue Community College and received an Associates in Applied Sciences in 1991.
Michael was an avid golfer, and from 1995 to 1999 was the assistant golf coach at Hidden Valley High School. Michael also enjoyed assembling model planes, working on computers, and was interested in the history of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Murphy; three children, Hannah Deter and spouse Brian, Adam Murphy and spouse Vanessa, and Sadie Welch and spouse Joshua; a sister, Teresa Murphy and spouse Larry Farris; a brother, Danny Murphy and spouse Marjorie; and two grandchildren, Olivia Murphy and Aidan Deter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold & Frances Murphy.
A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2015 at River Valley Community Church with Pastor Michael Bahn officiating.
