He moved from Whittier, CA in August 2004 to Grants Pass, Oregon.
Mike grew up and attended schools in Huntington Park and the La Mirada area in Southern California. He graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1963. He attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, earning a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran 1968-70.
He married Linda Bradley-Lloyd in 1999, who survives. Mike is also survived by daughter Lacey Lloyd and son Jason Lloyd of Diamond Bar, CA, his two sisters Joan Perrin of Hemet CA. (Husband Mike, daughter Lisa Misner of Ontario CA, and son Michael Perrin Jr. of Placentia CA),
Candy Hone (Husband Fred, daughter Michelle and son Daniel) of San Antonio TX, his brother Jack Pertl of Perris CA (wife Pam, daughters Vicki Archer of Fresno CA, Lavon Paukert of Diamond Bar CA, Trudy of Perris CA and Shawn of Texas), and many nieces and nephews. His parents Velma and Maynard Lloyd passed away before him. He is also survived by Linda’s son John Bradley of Highlands Ranch CO (wife Elaine), grandson Justin Bradley of Riverside CA,
granddaughters Samantha Bradley of La Mirada CA, Tabitha Bradley of Highlands Ranch CO, and many wonderful friends.
Mike was a member of the Grants Pass Elks Lodge in Oregon, Whittier Elks Lodge in California, Grants Pass Eagles Lodge in Oregon, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion.
His hobbies included fishing and golf. He often fished the High Sierra lakes and streams with many friends and family members, and was always after the big brown trout there. As a youth, he often went camping with family to the Northwest and into Canada, always in pursuit of fish!
Recent travels included Hawaii and Alaska with his wife Linda, and several trips to the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake and the Rogue River Gorge. Mike loved Southern Oregon and really enjoyed showing the area to friends and family who came to visit. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the wildlife in the area. He was also a terrific chef!
Mike suffered from the effects of Agent Orange from his service in Vietnam, which caused his battle with cancer.
Donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, or to any Veterans organization.
A Celebration of his Life was held Saturday, July 19th at the Elks Lodge in Grants Pass, OR.
Mike will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors in August 2008.
