Michael J. Hall, age 61, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Cliff Custer conducting. A gathering will follow. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Michael was born on November 22, 1947 in Tacoma, Washington. He was raised in Puyallup, Washington and graduated from Puyallup High School in 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Navy and served from 1966 to 1969 as a Navy Corpsman. Most of his time was served in Vietnam where he earned two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. For 25 years he lived in Walnut Creek California and worked as a butcher for Lucky Stores in San Leandro, California. While living in Walnut Creek, he volunteered as a child abuse prevention counselor and also volunteered at a suicide prevention hot line. In 1994 he moved to Sunny Valley and in 1995 to Grants Pass. For seven years he volunteered at the Grants Pass Veterans Center and also read and recorded books for blind students at Rogue Community college. He also enjoyed being a part time worker at Treasured Memories Art Gallery and a tour guide in British Columbia and Portland. He was active in Toastmasters for 20 years and was an advance Toastmaster for many years. He attended Parkway Christian Center where he sang in the choir. On June 14, 2002, in Grants Pass he married Kelly Donley.

His hobbies included small-scale farming, ranching, beekeeping and boating. He was popular at the Psychic Fair where he gave Tarot Card and Palm readings.

In addition to his wife, Kelly, survivors include his two daughters, Sandy Doty of San Jose, California and Meaghan Hall of Vallejo, California; mother, Lillian Faker of Puyallup, Washington; three sisters, Jeannie Taloa of Tacoma, Washington and Francine Hall of Bremerton, Washington and Ellen Sumner of Puyallup, Washington and a granddaughter, Lilliana Doty of San Jose, California.
