Maureen “Nonnie” Bowen, age 82, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 3554 Cloverlawn Drive, Grants Pass.
Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
She was born Maureen Eloise Mcdermott on December 13, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to John & Marie Mcdermott. She grew up in Chicago and worked as a beautician. In 1960 she moved to Alameda, California where she met and married Henry Bowen. Together they raised 11 children. In 1989 she and her husband moved from Fremont, California to Grants Pass where they retired. She spent the last eight years on dialysis.
She was a loving wife, a great mother and a wonderful grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Her hobbies included watching San Francisco 49ers football and Chicago Cubs baseball; golfing and loved playing bingo.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, Henry Bowen; she is survived by her children, John, Linda, Bonnie, Darling, Kathy, Diana, Roberta, Connie, Danny, Dawn and Erica; 36 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Mcdermott and a brother, Thomas Parr.
