Matthew S Wirkkala

Former Rogue River resident, Matthew S. Wirkkala, age 46, of Yelm, Washington, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016.

Matthew was born on June 14, 1969 in Castro Valley, California.

While living in Rogue River, he owned and operated Matthew Wirkkala Construction. Three years ago, he moved to Washington where he worked as a long haul truck driver.

Matthew enjoyed building things with his hands, cooking delicious food, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, nature walks and just being outdoors.

He was survived by his five children, Bryanna Brown 26, Christa Wirkkala 24, Zachery Wirkkala 21, Hannah Wirkkala 15, and Caleb Wirkkala 13 all of Grants Pass. His two grandchildren Connor and Lylah, parents Naomi and Joe Wirkkala of Rogue River and fiance Jodie Yost of Yelm, Washington.

A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Hull & Hull Chapel.
