Mary Jewel Cook, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at Whispering Pines.
A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday April 16, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Mary was born January 1, 1922 in Marmaduke, Arkansas to Hosea & Ora Holcomb. In 1937 she married King William McDonald. She moved to Oregon in 1949 from Arkansas by train. King William died in 1972. She later married Charles Hamilton and they lived in Wilderville until his death in 1985. She married Eugene Cook in 1996, he died in 2003. She worked as a CNA at local nursing homes. She has lived in a Wilderville care facility for the last three years.
She was a member of Church of God.
Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, knitting, quilting and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Overbay of Oregon and Wanda Noland of Searcy, Arkansas; three sons, Jimmy W. McDonald of Anchorage, Alaska, Roy C. McDonald of Grants Pass and David E. McDonald of Wasilla, Alaska; two sisters, Virgie Fiedler of Oregon and Ruby Zornes of California; 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, preceding her in death was a daughter, Sue Ogren, brothers, Delbert, Harlan, Ray, Harold and Willard; and a sister, Bessie Reed.
