Mary Evelyn Clarke Collins

Mary Evelyn Clarke Collins, age 87, passed peacefully Friday, August 10, 2012 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mary was born December 30, 1924 in Michigan, where she was raised, and was the only child of Luella and George Clarke. She traveled to Arizona to attend the University of Arizona and fell in love with the country and the Native American culture. While attending college Mary spent her summers working on the Navajo reservation with the children, and spoke fondly of that experience. She and Dean were married in the splendor of the Arizona dessert in a sunrise service and enjoyed over 50 years together. Relocating to Oregon in the summer of 1981, Mary and Dean built a life and a home surrounded by beautiful country and warm and caring people.

Mary is survived by daughters Kay Naff and Cheryl Cope, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Dean Collins and her daughter Sara Jean Collins.

A memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 at Evans Valley Bible Church in Rogue River. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
