Mary A. Chapman of West Seattle, died November 6, 2013 at the age of 87.
Mary was born October 31, 1926 in East Hampton, New York the daughter of Frederick Bahns and Elizabeth Meinke. One of 13 children, she is survived by her brother, John Bahns; her children Pamela (Wayne) Alameida of Grants Pass, Oregon and Russ Chapman of Hansville, Washington; grandchildren, Lisa Kramer, Dana Keller, Erin Kansala and Maureen Arnesen; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary left East Hampton in 1948 and married Cecil Chapman in Seattle. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed trips back East to visit her beloved family.
Mary had a generous and loving nature, not only with family and friends, but with the entire community. She volunteered at the local food bank and helped many people by house-sitting, babysitting and assisting the elderly with daily tasks.
Mary enjoyed reading, growing flowers, walking on the beach, being with family, and corresponding with relatives all over the country. She stayed close to her loved ones, despite living far away.
Mary will be greatly missed.
