MARTHA “JEAN” PIPER, age 80 of Cave Junction, died Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home.
She was born December 21, 1934 in El Paso, Texas to Mike & Rachel Rivera. While in the 6th grade, Jean quit school to take care of her little sister and helped raise her. From two separate marriages, Jean had four children. While “Jean” working as a deputy comptroller for the Department of the Navy in So. California, she met James A. Piper who was a C.B Steelworker in the Navy & on Feb. 14, 1978 they married in Las Vegas, Nevada. At that time, they resided in Oxnard, Calif. In 2000 Jean retired after working 26+ years for the Navy. After moving to So. Oregon they settled in Cave Junction several years ago.
Jean enjoyed camping, being retired, traveling with her husband & watching the wildlife especially deer. She also enjoyed talking with every body and any body.
Survivors include her husband, James Piper III, four children, Chris Tanner of Grants Pass, Or., Gloria Hernandez of San Diego, Ca., Steve Hernandez of Hayward, Ca. and Mike Hernandez of California plus many grandchildren.
No services are planned. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
