Marshal Miles McDaniels, age 63, of Grants Pass, died Monday, August 6, 2007 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Dr. Charles Potter officiating. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Marshall was born on September 15, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho to Marshal & Emily Stroup. When he was four years old, his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended school. He graduated from West High School, Class of 1961. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force in September 1961 and was medically discharged in December of 1961. In 1966 he began a career as a Deputy Sheriff for several years in Bountiful, Utah and was wounded in the line of duty. Shortly after his injury, in 1972, he began attending Boise State University were he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. He then attended Denver University and completed his Masters Degree. He furthered his education at the University of Oregon where he received a Masters of Fine Arts Degree. After 20 years in the insurance industry he retired risk manager for AON and moved from Portland to Grants Pass in 1998. Mr. McDaniels was a renowned artist and taught art classes at McDaniels Water Colour Studio as well at local grade schools.
His hobbies included watercolor painting, playing his guitar and reading.
Survivors include his companion, Susan Thompson of Grants Pass, mother, Emily Stroup of Carson, Washington, two daughters, Rebecca Sue Ruffell and Jennifer Mills; two sons, Shawn McDaniels and Paul McDaniels all of Salt Lake City, Utah; three sisters, Patricia Biggs of Carson, Washington, Margi Hawk of Spokane, Washington and Pennie Lou Torres of Pocatello, Idaho; two brothers, Richard Stroup of Renton, Washington and Timothy Stroup of Battleground, Washington, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews.
