Marjorie Ellen Williams, age 80, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A celebration of life will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship, 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie was born December 13, 1931 in Portland, Oregon to Alfred & Bernice LaForest. She moved to Grants Pass in the 1930s. She attended Murphy Grade School and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1950. She was involved in student council, camera club, girls letter club, FTA, rally squad, and girls athletics.
On November 3, 1950 she married Mack Williams in Reno, Nevada. Together they built their home in Grants Pass. She worked in the offices of area lumber mills and they operated their own retail meat businesses. In retirement she enjoyed photography, traveling and they commercial fished and operated a food concession. She took care of many family members. For 18 years, they took good samaritan trips to Mexico, delivering clothes and needed supplies.
She was a member of caveman camera club.
Her hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, photography, and traveling.
In addition to her husband, Mack Williams of Grants Pass, Oregon; Marjorie is survived by a daughter, Peggy Shontz of Rogue River, Oregon; two grandchildren, Lynsey Turek and Kelsey Reeser; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Chiado and Mary Coston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara Gix; and a brother, Richard LaForest.
