Marjorie "Chick" Cahill

Marjorie “Chick” Cahill, age 85, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Redwood Terrace.

Chick was born July 10, 1928 in Oakland, California. She was raised in Berkeley, California, graduating in 1946 from Presentation High School. On June 29, 1947 in Berkeley she married John Arthur Cahill. She moved from Berkeley to Sunnyvale in 1954; then to South Lake Tahoe in 1973. She moved to San Jose in 1981, and in 1995 to Grants Pass.

Her hobbies included needle point, gardening, reading, word puzzles, bingo, slots and poker. She especially enjoyed spending time with and watching her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include her daughters, Cathy Amaral and husband Bill of Grants Pass, Oregon and Denise Alarid and husband Joe of Washougal, Washington; four grandchildren, Mike Amaral and wife Sheri, Micki Amaral, Ryan Alarid and wife Aimee, Scott Alarid and wife Tara; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Amaral, Tyler Amaral, Cody Amaral, Grady Alarid, Annaleese Alarid, Paige Alarid, Peyton Alarid and Colby Alarid.

Her husband, John Arthur Cahill, preceded her in death on November 30, 1989.
