Marinus Johannes “Joe” Van Donkelaar, age 87, passed to his heavenly home December 25, 2014.

A Celebration of life will be held in his hometown in Michigan at a later date. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Joe was born on March 11, 1927 in Muskegon, Michigan. In 1948 he married his wife of 66 years, Aletha. Joe owned and operated Paramount Dry Cleaners for 24 years at which time he and his wife opened a Modern Bridal Shop, which they ran as a team for eight years. He ended his employment career in security at the Meijer Store in Muskegon.

Upon retirement they moved to New Port Richey, Florida for eight years and then to Grants Pass for the past ten years to be near their family.

They attended River Valley and Edgewater churches.

Joe enjoyed meeting people and making them smile with his stories and jokes.

Survivors include his wife, Aletha of Grants Pass; a daughter, Sharon Faulkner and her husband, Terry of Grants Pass; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a daughter, Sue Ann Sampson and one grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, donations could be sent to the Gospel Rescue Mission.
