Marilyn J. Hammer

Marilyn J. Hammer, age 80, of Grants Pass, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at her home.

Private services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn was born April 30, 1934 in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Burbank. In her younger years she was involved in figure skating. She was first married to Howard Baldwin with whom she had four children. They later divorced. In May 1976 she married Jess Hammer and they lived in Westchester, California until her husband’s passing in 1997. She then relocated to Medford, Oregon to be closer to family. While living in Medford, Marilyn began pursuing her lifelong dream of writing and her stories were featured numerous times in multiple Southern Oregon publications. In 2010 she moved from Medford to Grants Pass.

Marilyn was a member of local writers groups. She enjoyed writing, sewing, and gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Robert E. Baldwin and David E. Baldwin both of Grants Pass, Oregon and Kirk E. Baldwin of Columbia, South Carolina; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Donald Hammer; and a daughter, Rebecca Ann Baldwin.
