Marianne Peterson 82, passed away on January 22, 2023 peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born in Allenstein, East Prussia, Germany, on February 13, 1940. In 1950, at the age of 9, Marianne and her family immigrated from Germany to the United States, living for a short time in South Carolina before moving to Grants Pass, Oregon. While attending Grants Pass High School she met and fell in love with Gary Lee Peterson. They married after graduation and together built a very successful business, “Gary Peterson Excavating, Redimix, and Paving.” Marianne was the office secretary and together she and Gary worked side by side serving the needs of the Grants Pass Community for 60 years.
Marianne enjoyed many interests with her husband which included collecting and restoring antique tractors. She and Gary were very involved in the Antique Tractor Association and the annual Father's Day tractor show at Pottsville. Marianne was on the committee of Child Evangelism Fellowship and strongly supported Good News Clubs in the local schools. She attended Redwood Country Church for more than 60 years. Marianne enjoyed collecting antiques and had a flare for framing vintage memorabilia.
Marianne and Gary had four children: Becky Lange, Barry Peterson, Bonny Frey, and Bryan Peterson. Marianne was proceeded in death by her husband Gary, son Bryan, sisters Vicky King and Lori Funke, and her parents Hans and Lori Funke. Marianne is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, sister Heide Cummings and brother Werner Funke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors on February 18, 2023 at 1 pm.
