Marian Blakely

“Marian” Blakely, age 88, of Grants Pass, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at her home.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., October 15, 2007 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Olga Marian Waagen June 20, 1919 in Grenora, North Dakota to Andor Waagen and Karen Vanvick Waagen. Her parents immigrated from Norway in the early 1900’s. In the early 1940’s they moved to Montana. On May 29, 1938 Marian married Lloyd David Yount. In 1944 they moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Loyd passed away in 1954. On October 12, 1962, she married Lester Dale Blakely who passed away on October 17, 1996.

Marian had an avid interest in the Old Time Fiddlers, enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She also enjoyed spending time with family and seeing her friends at the donut shop.

Survivors include her two sons, Ron Yount of Maupin, Oregon and Milo Yount (and wife Karen) of Gold Hill; sister, Ruby Seubert of Spokane, Washington, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her first husband, Lloyd Yount and second husband, Dale Blakely; daughter, Farrol AnnetteYount Chapin Finney who passed away on May 19, 2000 and sister, Lula Glunz.
