Margueriete Miller, age 86, died at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon on August 17, 2010.
A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2010 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Margueriete was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania on December 19, 1923 to Margueriete Florence and Archie Terrill. Margueriete had two brothers and a sister who have since passed away. The family moved from Oil City to Huntington Beach, California where Margueriete went to school and graduated from Anaheim High School in 1941.
During high school, she met and fell in love with Melvin Miller and they were married soon after he enlisted in the U.S. army. Melvin fought with the third armored division in Germany and was badly wounded, losing his right arm. After recovering from his wounds, Margueriete and Melvin bought a home in Long Beach and raised a family of four children, Charles, Steven, David and Melena. Margueriete was thoroughly involved in her children's lives. She was president of the local P.T.A. and was very involved in her children's activities which included scouting and sporting events. She loved and enjoyed her three grandchildren, Carrie, Jason and Ashi Miller.
In 1970 she moved with her husband to Hugo, Oregon where they bought fifteen acres and built a nice home with a huge garden that kept them very busy. Margueriete and Melvin traveled around the country playing golf. Marguerite had many interests. She also loved gardening, crocheting, sewing and cooking. Her Christmas cookies were always worth the wait, cooked with love and care. In 2000 Margueriete and Melvin sold their Hugo home and moved to a retirement community in Grants Pass. They lived together until 2002 when Melvin passed away.
The last eight years Margueriete and her daughter, Melena lived in Horizon Village. Melena took wonderful care of her Mom, always helpful through some very difficult times but with the best interests of her Mom at the top of the list. Margueriete passed away in the home she loved surrounded by Melena and Carrie at her bedside. Reunited with Melvin at last.
