Marge Perkins-Rice

June 12, 1932 — August 29, 2010

R. Marjorie “Marge” Perkins-Rice, age 78, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment will be at Granite Hill Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 31 W. 6th Street, Medford, Oregon 97501.

Marge was born June 12, 1932 in Grants Pass to Carl & Rosalthe Dallas. She grew up in Grants Pass and was a 1950 graduate of Grants Pass High School. She lived in the Rogue Valley most of her life other than from 1970 to 1978 when she lived in California. For many years she lived in Cave Junction. From 1978 to 1995 she owned and operated the Junction Trading Post and during the 80’s was involved in local politics including serving as Mayor and on the City Council. On February 18, 1998 in Grants Pass she married Robert Daniel Rice Sr.

From 1963 to 1966 she was PTA President at Redwood Elementary School and also was a Brownie Scout leader.

She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included going to casinos, playing cards, bowling, reading, traveling and ship cruises.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Rice Sr. of Grants Pass; three daughters, Meg Myers of Reno, Nevada, Dallas Lange of Santa Clarita, California and Sally Lawson of Grants Pass; a son, Mike Perkins of Grants Pass; a step-son; three step-daughters; two sisters, Maralou Cross of Eagle Point and Melinda Dean of Grants Pass; a brother, Chuck Dallas of Grants Pass; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Lang in 1977; three brothers, Truman Dallas, Carl Dallas and John Dallas; and a sister Greta Mackler.
