Marceal was born March 21, 1922 in Hoskins, Oregon. While attending high school in Hoskins, Marceal met, dated and married James Winfield Brooks after James beat up all other suitors. Their union was blessed with three children. Sadly they lost their first son, Michael in an automobile accident at the age of 18. Marceal spent her years as a homemaker-cooking, cleaning and caring for her children as James worked in the woods as a lumberjack. She lived in Lebanon, Oregon for a few years before moving to Arcata, California. She moved Rogue River 27 years ago.
She was highly regarded for her praying spirit, kindness, generosity, moral leadership and dedication to God, her church and her family. Marceal was truly the sweetest, kindest person you could know and will be missed dearly.
She was a member of Club Northwest where she enjoyed water aerobics.
Her hobbies included oil painting, bird watching and cooking.
Survivors include her daughter Michelle Brooks of Rogue River; a son, Rob Brooks of Lawrence, Kansas; a sister, Lelia Kautz of Hoskins, Oregon; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Winfield Brooks, a son, Michael Dennis Brooks and a sister, Edith Kelly.
