Mannie Otto Burkman, age 62, of Merlin, Oregon died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home.
A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship Office. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements
Mannie was born July 27, 1950 in San Francisco, California to Otto & Patricia Burkman. He grew up in Pacifica California. Mannie served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. In December 2004 he married Jean Woodford. In 2010 he moved to Merlin. He helped the homeless by serving meals and getting food for their pets. He worked with the wood crew for Edgewater Christian Fellowship and later for the Matthews crew. He loved to be on the streets ministering, talking, praying and giving hope to the people who needed it the most. He truly became a man of God.
He attended Edgewater Christian Fellowship and North Valley Assembly of God.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his two sons Brian Burkman and Willie Burkman; a daughter, Crystal Burkman; mother Patricia Magnuson; three sisters, Barrie Crowder-Bacho, June Hosking Para and Elonor Windsted; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean and father, Otto
