Madeline Dresser Haden was born April 16, 1925, in Burbank, California, the only child of Irving and Florence Dresser. She grew up in Los Angeles surrounded by family and graduated from Dorsey High School. Madeline met her husband John Haden at a dance at the Hollywood Palladium. The couple married July 18, 1943. They had three children: Richard (Candace), William (Melanie), and Nancy (Robert Allen). They raised their family in Long Beach and Garden Grove, California, where Madeline was a frequent room mother for her children’s classes, Cub Scout Den mother, active PTA member, and president of her sons’ college fraternity Mother’s Club. She was active in Sigma Phi Gamma and the Garden Grove Junior Women’s Club.
After John retired, the couple moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, where Madeline was a longtime Three Rivers Hospital volunteer and PEO member. John died in 2006 just prior to the couple’s 63rd wedding anniversary.
Madeline is survived by her three children; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
