Mabel Christina (Neathamer) Rigel, age 101, of Wimer, died Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at her home.
Mabel was born December 20, 1914 in Rogue River to Lindsey & Annie Neathamer and was raised in the Rogue River area. In 1985 she was the grand marshal for the Rooster Crow and in 2012, the city of Rogue River centennial year, she and her Neathamer family were grand marshals. On her 96th birthday she received a congratulatory letter from Gov. Ted Kulongoski.
Mabel volunteered for many years with Child Evangelism Fellowship.
She loved to fish, hunt, camp, and crochet. She especially loved children and was grandma to all.
She is survived by 12 children, Frances Adams, Martha Yawn-Crowell, Steve Rigel, Annie Jensen, Nettie Morrison, John Rigel, Rosa Ross, Mary Neathamer, Melvina McLaughlin, William Rigel, Ruthie Bailey, and Bud Rigel; 39 grandchildren; 112 great-grandchildren; 66 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie “Bud” Rigel; three brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Woodville Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Evans Valley Bible Church with Pastor Scott Purrier officiating.
