M. Ruth Harmon

M. Ruth Harmon, age 93, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at a local adult foster care home.

Ruth was born on February 18, 1916 in Gold Hill to Jesse & Edith (Newton) Starns. She was from a pioneer family that homesteaded on Sardine Creek in Gold Hill in 1921. On April 15, 1934 in Grants Pass she married Donald L. Harmon. She spent 76 years of her life in Grants Pass.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

Her hobbies included gardening, especially flowers, sewing and researching family history.

Survivors include a son, Donald Harmon of San Pedro, California, three daughters, Jane Harper of Grants Pass, Ruth Anne Campbell of Rancho Palos Verdes, California and Linda Williams of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Harmon and a daughter, Mary Ellen Hinson.

A funeral service was held. Private interment was at Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
