Lyn Spikes, age 76, of Grants Pass, died October 19, 2017 at her home.
Lyn was born July 29, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to C.B. & Levena Hamilton. As a child, she moved a lot with her family. As an adult she enjoyed moving to different places while raising her sons. She graduated with an Associate’s of Science degree in electronics from West Valley College in Los Gatos, California. She then earned a counseling certificate from University of California Santa Cruz. She worked as a drug & alcohol and relationship counselor; and she enjoyed being a homemaker. She moved from Orangevale, California to Grants Pass three years ago.
Lyn was 38 years sober. She volunteered for the South Coast Humane Society while living in Brookings and was in charge of dog adoptions.
Lyn especially enjoyed reading; mostly Sci-fi and fantasy.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Russell, Scott Spikes, and Brandon Spikes all of Grants Pass; and Dale Russell of Orangevale, California; a sister, Sharon Reid of Orangevale, California; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, an infant Randy Russell in 1965 and Steven Russell in 2011.
Services will be held at Turlock Memorial Park in Turlock, California.
Remembrances may be made to a Humane Society in Lyn’s memory.
