Lyle E. Woodcock, age 83, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Fair View Transitional Health Center.
A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Provolt Community Church with a Tractor Brigade following from the church to the ranch. Bring your tractor, all are welcome. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Lyle was born May 5, 1931 in Rogue River. He was a graduate of Grants Pass High School, Class of 1950 and was active in FFA during his high school years. Lyle worked bailing hay and working on the family farm. He was a longtime logger and later owned and operated Woodcock’s Rock & Ready Mix building roads and house pads. He loved all things heavy equipment. Lyle lived his entire life in the Rogue Valley.
He was a member of Provolt Community Church, Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau, and Miners Association. He was politically active, fighting for water and zoning rights, citizens’ rights and constitutional rights. Lyle was also very active in local 4-H Clubs for many years, with the Antique Tractor Show & Pull in Merlin, and many other organizations.
Lyle enjoyed fishing, hunting, working, taking drives in the mountains, and family get togethers with food.
Survivors include three daughters, Shauna “Kit” Allen of Murphy, Oregon, Susan Payne of Baker City, Oregon and Pamela L. Woodcock Barnes of Idaho; a son, James Hathaway of Soldotna, Alaska; his committed companion, Claudina Hamilton of Grants Pass; five grandchildren, Justin, Mikey, Erica, Ashley, and Sean; and six great-grandchildren, Jase, Kaden, Kaci, Mason, Logan, and Jera.
